Coastal Trek

I packed my lunch, lathered on the sun cream and headed to Stonebarrow Hill, part of the National Trust Golden Gap Estate.

After a cup of coffee from the Barista Van I attempted to follow the 10K Run trail to the top of Golden Gap, the highest point on the South Coast at 191m (627ft) high - not that I ever intended to walk the full 10K trail, but had plotted a 4.3mile (6.9km) round trip on my OS map app, taking in part of the South West Coast Path, with a total 1134ft up and 1143ft down estimated at around 2.5 hours.  In the event, my navigation and the NT signs were not that hot, not helped by my phone running out of juice as I headed back to the car.  I estimated I did an extra 3/4mile and took over 5 hours - but had plenty of stops for photos , lunch and to just enjy the glorious scenery.

It was not a massive trek by the standards of many of my more fit friends, but I'm pleased I did it, and the views from the top of Golden Cap especially eastwards, were worth the climb and effort.  The presence of several paragliders enjoying the warm winds completed the view.
