Mid Argyll Wildflowers - A lovely day out!
An impromptu outing Lochgilphead and Kilmartin today .
We stopped for coffee at The Tree Shop at Cairndow then drove to Lochgilphead parking near Millers Bridge . We then walked along the canal bank to the Brackley Farm turn off where we used to walk as children with our parents as I was keen to walk there and explore it all again. It's been a very long time since I was last there.
The canal banks and verges were full lovely wildflowers- so many varieties of pink and purple orchids and this butterfly orchid. It was so special to see such a variety of wildflowers.
Also delighted to see a small blue butterfly - I've never seen one up there before. It would have been good to have had Blipper MotherShipton with us as there were a few more I couldn't identify:)
We then went on to Kilmartin to the museum cafe for lunch before walking down to the stone circle at Temple Wood - another favourite place .
It was just a lovely relaxed day - so nice to be back on home ground.
A few extras from today.
