Catching up …
Today was one of the reasons I wanted to come back East for a second week: I’d planned to meet up with our friend Leo, whom we last saw in Malta on an HF holiday. We first met on our very first holiday with HF in Tenerife, and have arranged to go on several holidays since as well as meeting in Dunoon and in Duddingston. Leo actually lives in what is now half of the cottage where Bonnie Prince Charlie met with his chiefs to plan the battle of Prestonpans, and it’s a pretty amazing place tucked away in a quiet corner, and it’s where I took the photo as we had coffee in the tiny hidden garden.
I had a lovely relaxed day, exploring the community garden and Doctor Neil’s Garden and looking at the ducks on the loch (sans skaters!) and being given lunch and sitting in the hot sun till teatime, chatting about everything that’d happened since we last met pre-pandemic. And then we drove back to Newhaven and had a last walk out to Lighthouse park and back beside the water looking up the Firth to the bridges before coming in to drink wine and eat new sourdough bread and a banana and some chocolate spread … it was like being children …
Apart from the wine.
