Beavers before my
breakfast is a really nice
surprise for my day
~carliewired
I was backing my car out of the garage at 6. I saw the red sun on the horizon indicating smoke in the air. I drove off to McArthur Island to see if I could find the red sun there too.
I drove into the east entrance to the park and had a quick look into the slough there on both sides of the road. It was very quiet and unpopulated this morning.
I drove on to park by the foot bridge to have a walk to the other side. I got a morning view of my mountains beyond the slough. I looked down into the slough to see a beaver making its way towards me in the water. It came to the edge and began to munch on a small tree branch. It took me a couple of minutes to see that there was a much bigger beaver beside it doing the same. I walked back across the foot bridge to get a head-on view of the pair. I wondered if this were mother and child.
I drove the circuit past the soccer fields where there were already people out working. There were many more vehicles than I would normally see at 6:30 in the morning. We are the "Tournament Capital" so there must be some events coming up.
I gave the marmots a wave as I skirted around behind the recreation centre. There seems to be recreation vehicles set up for camping in the parking lot across from the Rivers Trail. There was a sandwich board propped up beside the roadway to direct them in. I wondered how all this was organized and why.
Then, I was off towards home with a stop to pick up some breakfast. I'm in for the day with a techie arriving this morning to further adjust my wifi connection. I'm hoping for warp speed by noon!
