Abstract Thursday - ‘Organic’
I can’t believe it’s Thursday already! A week tomorrow is Moving Day - a day I felt would never come at more than one point over the past year since I put the flat on the market. Today has gone past in a flash. I went round with enormous strong garden refuse sacks and shoved things in them which I didn’t want to take to Tiptree and which weren’t good enough to donate to charity. So that’s another two (very heavy) sackfuls which have been on the one-way trip to the tip.
This afternoon the chaps from Boxmove turned up to take away my furniture donations to Sue Ryder, a charity whose excellent online bereavement support tools I used quite a lot in the immediate months after Mum died. They took a cane shelving unit, a pine bookcase, a pine table, a small wooden shelf unit, the sofa and the armchair which I had been sitting in until seconds before they arrived. Turns out one of them grew up in Tiptree and his Mum still lives there, so we had a good chat about that. The place looks pretty empty now. Then I set to with the Henry and started to vacuum the carpet where the furniture had been. I’ve abandoned that now to have a meal, then I need to pack a whole load of things into the car and drive to Tiptree later this evening. My sister’s coming over tomorrow to help me move the last of the unwanted stuff from the bungalow into the garage, pending being given away to various people and charities/sold at auction. Phew - not sure how I’m going to keep it up at this level for another week!
Thank you to Ingeborg for hosting Abstract Thursday, with today’s theme of ‘organic’. I took it literally, and played about with an image of a cardboard carton of organic milk “with 70% less plastic than standard milk bottles”.
