Terra

Terra is the title of this week's celebrations.

With a capital T, it means Earth; with a small t, it means soil. Today, the talk was on the small t, by an almost 93yr old geologist, Galopim de Carvalho. And he used a PP, yay! Clearest talk so far, very with it. He is pessimistic about the future of the human race. (Last extra)

Definitely too hot to walk down the hill to Santa Catarina, so we went by car, to listen to a brilliant polyphonic chorus in the semi derelict chapel (extra of folk listening, notice Gil's dog's paw on his foot). Gave a lift to a Brazilian couple back up the hill, and listened to a harp recital, by Angélica Salvi - she played beautifully, combining with electronic effects, including using a milk frother and a violin bow on the strings.

There is now yet another concert in the castle, with an accordion and a string quintet, which I bet is superb, but we gave up - the heat has really finished me off today.

Another extra of some donkeys, because I loved the light.

Gratefuls:
- such an abundance of beautiful music in great settings
- sharing a beer with some Brazilians (from SP) we gave a lift to
- Mike being willing to miss the concert
