Elephant Hawk Moth

I went to a Magic of Moths event at Birnie and Gaddon Lochs today. Run by Fife Coast and Countryside Trust, the facilitators had set up traps overnight around the lochs and shrubbery. There were hundreds of moths and dozens of species to admire. The Elephant Hawk moth got a lot of attention, as did the Hawk moth and Tiger moth in Extras.

It was easy to pick up on the enthusiasm of the presenters, and time to take lots of photos. So I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Afterwards I met up with JeanSnaps, who I’ve followed on here since we both joined 3 1/2 years ago. Was good to finally put a face to Jean and hear her voice. We drove to Rossie Hall for cake, a cuppa and a blether.

All in all, a really good day, and hopefully Jean and I will meet up again.
