Montréal
Today I got up at 05:00 to travel to Edinburgh airport for a 09:00 flight to Toronto. Caught up in the IT outage, the security queue started outside the terminal, and it took over an hour to get through.
I had six hours before my flight to Montréal, so I took a train into the centre of Toronto. There, after leaving my carry-on at the main railway station I walked the short distance to the base of the CN Tower. I took its Turf zone - held by Penicuik Turfer, Hodge - and had a beer and a pretzel for lunch, before using the timed ticket I'd bought to go up the tower.
Although it's twice the height of the Space Needle in Seattle, there was disappointingly little to see, since the area around Toronto is sooo flat! Thank goodness for Lake Ontario, because there are no snow-capped mountains to see here!
In Montréal, I had a quick shower at my quaint B&B in the Chinese quarter, before joining И at the "JuMP-dev" dinner. An informal gathering of about 30 people in a bar, I arrived two hours after it started, but the food had not yet been served! There were lots of interesting people to talk with, and some good beer. Afterwards, a subset of us moved on for another beer, and I had a particularly interesting technical discussion.
