First Night

A very hot day, when fortunately for us we could take it easy. I caught up with some correspondence and had a good phone chat with our friend L. 
This evening we watched on tv this year's First Night of the Proms.
It was a great concert with Elim Chan conducting the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Chorus and BBC Singers in works including Handel's Music for the Royal Fireworks, Bruckner's Psalm 150 and Beethoven's 5th symphony.
However, the piece I  enjoyed most was Clara Schumann"s Piano Concerto played by Isata Kanneh-Mason. There is a beautiful section where the pianist plays a duet with a solo cello ( performed by Louisa Tuck tonight). It was truly a case of sisters doing it (brilliantly)for themselves.
