Francoa sonchifolia

A much cooler day with rain this afternoon.
The tall flower spikes of the  Francoa sonchifolia are now prominent above a jungle of other herbaceous plants in my garden. Apparently, the specific epithet " sonchifolia" means " leaves like a sowthistle". The foliage is quite distinctive in the winter but now is mostly obscured.
Tonight's Prom concert was disco music - a complete contrast from the first night, but good to listen to, and there was probably a lot of dancing going on in the arena of the Royal Albert Hall.
