Eye to Eye

Wallcreeper Chick and Daisies …

… so exposed with a second big storm coming in. Blipper, Wildmint, and I sheltered in the cafe at the bottom of the gorge then managed an hour’s fascinating viewing of the chick moving on the surface of the the home crag (extra … Wildmint on the bridge if you look closely to give you the scale. The Wallcreeper is the size of a sparrow).  His father flew in to feed him several times (another extra as it is better than yesterday’s main). We never saw the female today. Final extra to show the bewildered chick that has fallen down into the bottom of the gorge. He was OK, his father found him. There you see the camouflage when his wings aren’t open.

Thank you so much for putting up with this special journey of the Wallcreepers. I am so privileged to have shared part of the life of this wonderful small and rare bird. Maybe next year I shall be lucky again. Tomorrow I am leaving the site to our naturalist film expert, Eric.
