Audlem

The mother and I drove to Audlem, a village not far from the parents’ gaff. We met up with Mandi, one of my mum’s pals who is passionate about travelling like me, and who I haven’t seen face to face for probably about twenty years. We had a very nice natter over a cappuccino.

After that we strolled down the towpath of the Shropshire Union Canal to the fancy marina, where the boaters moor their craft. At the tea room I got my annual fill of Staffordshire oatcakes stuffed with cheese and bacon. We padded back down the towpath and later in the afternoon I went to see some old school friends. Packing in a lot of very pleasant activities on this short trip to the homelands, and looking at the old place with a large degree of fondness. Possibly due to imminent regime change and the fact that Brits can again dare to dream of an end to scandals, cronyism, state-sponsored gaslighting and cover-ups.
