Artist at work
They promised us the hottest day of the year so far and, with the builders off for the weekend, it seemed like a good chance to get some things done. I mowed about half the lawn (I use a battery-powered mower, and I can do about half the lawn before I need to recharge the batteries), during which I slightly twisted my ankle. I also did a load of laundry and hung it out in the sunshine to dry, which always makes me inordinately happy.
In the afternoon, while Mrs O went to the supermarket, I took the boy to RHS Rosemoor. We live very close to it and buy annual membership so we can use it pretty much as our local park. The boy loves it and never seems to get bored of it. It was surprisingly empty at 3pm today - possibly just too hot for a lot of people to contemplate wandering around outside.
The boy insisted on bringing some crayons with him in an old yoghurt pot (that looks like a small emulsion paint pot). He didn't have many colours, so I set him the challenge of finding flowers that matched his crayons, so he could draw them. He loved this, and did many scribbles in yellow, orange and purple. We would have stayed longer, but I started to notice that my ankle, the one I slightly twisted while half-mowing the lawn, was starting to really hurt. It got worse as we drove home and, by the time Mrs O got back with the shopping, I was lying on the sofa in agony. No idea why. There's no swelling and it's clearly not sprained. Hopefully, it will be fine tomorrow morning. As much as I love lazing around all day, I've got too much to do.
