WI Regional outing
I went on a visit to Winton Park Gardens, near Kirkby Stephen, today with a group of 40+ women from WI’s across the north west region. Despite an uninspiring weather forecast for walking around a garden we were lucky enough to get very reasonably weather for most of the visit. What a fabulous garden. They have a very small team responsible for the upkeep and development of the garden, mainly the owners, a couple in their late 70’s/early 80’s with a very few helpers of a similar age. This was originally a working farm, and has been totally transformed into this fabulous garden. We were amazed at how well maintained it was, with almost no weeds to be seen. It has certainly inspired me to get some status for my garden, but maybe not on the same scale! And I haven’t even mentioned the fabulous cream tea we had! It was delicious! Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
