No Secret...
...what 'something bigger' this tiny picture is a part of. Many thanks to Isbi for hosting the challenge this month....
We got ourselves outside at 7:30am to do some pruning in the garden before Pilates-on-the-floor at 9am. I managed to pretty well mutilate the salvias which were threatening to take over. I even got out for a little while after class to try and finish the job, but had to come back inside by 11 as the full sun was out on the garden and it was too hot to keep working. I'm not sure the job is done. The next step might be to take these out and plant new ones as they have gotten old and woody....
It has been good to be able to take some interest in the upcoming election again without feeling like I wanted to run for the bed and hide under the newly washed duvet. Too hot for that anyway. I heard snippets of Kamala's first presidential campaign speech and liked whai I heard. She said she was a prosecutor and had prosecuted lots of sexual predators, liars, cheaters, and people who had committed fraud, 'so I know his (Donald Trump's) type.' The campaign is quickly shaping up to be "The Prosecutor vs. The Felon". She is smart and tough. I don't think she will be able to change the professed misogynistic, racist aspects of some white male parts of the Republican Party, (including their declared 'leader') but I hope she will be able to sway some of the women who would like to be given back control of their own bodies.
Here’s a quote from Heather Cox Richardson’s ‘Letters from an American’ , July 21, 2024
“In a time of dictators, Trump tried to overthrow the results of the 2020 presidential election and install himself in power against the wishes of the people. President Joe Biden voluntarily turned away from reelection in order to give the people a better shot at preserving our democracy.
He demonstrated what it means to put the country first “
