I See You

A close crop in on the head of a meadow brown butterfly, Maniola jurtina.


I saw more butterflies today than I've seen in weeks, but still fewer than seen in other years at this time of year.  In a one mile stretch of the coastal path I saw 7 whites, of which two were green-veined whites, and 4 meadow browns.  Expected to see ringlets but none obliged.
