Camping trip

Rucksack packed, tent included!
The short distance drive to park up the car was uneventful and the road delightfully empty. I spotted a few ripe blackberries on the way to the next form of transport, very tasty too! Some nice conversations with fellow travellers before the scramble for a top deck seat. I sat next to a fascinating gentleman who was very nearly an octogenarian from the Cayman Islands but didn’t look his age at all , he entertained me and visa versa for the 2 and a half hours on board. Over 2 million air miles is quite some time sitting on airplanes! A young family from China were struggling with the rocking and rolling of the boat, as soon as the sick bags arrived up came a variety of breakfast delights! After a helping hand and a wash off we settled down and watched the Manx Shearwaters skimming the waves in their way to their feeding grounds in the Irish Sea.
Safely docked and time to get warm with a brisk climb to the top of the island. A hot cup of peppermint tea and my goats cheese on wholesome sourdough was delicious.
As our luggage was not due for a couple of hours I decided to explore the southern tip of the island and in particular the church and its surrounding area.some interesting information absorbed. See extra.
Back to find out that our camping gear had arrived in the designated area where friendly lambs were keeping the grass at a suitable height. The practice run I did on Sunday proved useful and soon my home for a couple of days was ready.
I met up with the family from China in the island inn and enjoyed some good conversation and a lovely peppermint tea. Back to base camp to cook my sirloin steak and wild mushroom sandwich after rescuing a couple of virgin campers who were without pegs for their tent.
Supper was a success after which I lay down to try out the setup and promptly fell asleep until after 11 pm!
Time for another brew and some reading before ga trip to the washroom and then some more sleep.
