This will be a sad historic end….

… to a popular bag shop.
Years ago this lady’s late father in law opened a shop selling many things but the bags that festooned the outside of the building will have stuck in everyone’s mind. To get into the shop you had to duck down to get past the bags and through the door. I’m not sure when it first opened but it was certainly there when I was a little toddler. Some years later a second shop was opened in High Street; selling very similar goods but what I remember most was clocks and watches.
Then this shop was opened by his son and wife. A lot of similarities with the other shops including the display of bags outside. Over time the other two shops closed and this lady’s husband died. She carried on alone for some years with just her black and white cat to help her. It could always be seen either sitting on the counter or surveying his territory in the Arcade. Sadly the cat died a while ago. The owner continued alone but now but has finally decided that retirement beckoned. She will be sorely missed. Where else can you get reasonably priced batteries for your watch?
