Day at a Time

By Tweedy

It's just one beautiful beach after another

Yet again a glorious sunrise and early morning which saw us setting off south to the beach at Maywick. It really is a jewel and we had it to ourselves. The blip shows the strange sand formations made by the peaty burn which flows over the beach to the sea. It's a sheltered spot as you can see from the high cliffs which surround the bay.

Then we decided to do the full tourist thing and went to Bigton where we bought some provisions (ice cream) at the community shop. We parked at the famous tombolo beach and walked over to St Ninian's Isle (extra from the Isle back over the beach. I had to desaturate the extra as the colours didn't look real). You can't really not do this walk on a day like today. We didn't do the full circuit this time but cut across the middle of the isle.

On the way back to Lerwick we detoured into Scalloway for a cup of tea and a wander. It's been another full day and my legs are tired. We've not really walked that far but walking on sand is quite strenuous. I think we'll be out walking again later though. We're in for rain tomorrow so we need to make the most of the sunshine and blue sky.
