The obligatory Floral Clock shot…
We had two letters from an unfamiliar (to us) bank, saying did we want to close these accounts. What accounts? I dismissed the letters as scams, but JR was more sensible, and so we took the bus down to one of the unfamiliar (to us) branches.
JR showed the teller the letter first, and after a lot of fiddling, he declared that she had £100 in it. Last activity on it was 2011. Did she want to close it? Yes!!
Then he did mine, but it had much more in it… quite a substantial amount in fact. Too much to do a quick closure. So I have to get a bank card, then go in and close it.
He started mentioning that perhaps we could stay with this bank, they do all the Direct Debits etc, he enthused. But I wanted to tell him that I’d NEVER join a bank that has a local radio blasting out on the premises. I will tell him when I go in to close it, as he’ll probably ask again for me to stay with them.
From there we popped in to a new cafe, outdoor seating, lots of mainly Greek pastries - we shared a very delicious one.
Bus stop nearby straight into town, for we’ve decided, and not before time, to become ‘Friends of the Galleries’. We popped in to see the John Lavery exhibition. He was one of the ‘Glasgow Boys’, though he was Irish.
But really, it was a bit of a waste of time for me, I can’t see very well, even with my specs on, and I certainly can’t read the tiny wee notes beside each painting. I’ll go again when my eyes are working properly, because, as a ‘Friend’ I can go as many times as I like.
As we came out, our bus was just arriving. I love that!
I feel it important to note that today was warm - muggy, even - and sunny!!
