Kinneil House

We visited the impressive Kinneil House yesterday, in Kinneil Village, just above Bo’ness. There are weekend tours run by @histenvscot, and this should be better known (not that I’m complaining that Mel and I were the only people on the tour!).

Much of the house was gutted in preparation for demolition many years ago, but then the painted walls, hidden under plaster, were discovered. Oh, and the wooden ceiling in one of the rooms was recovered from a skip…

Sitting right on the Antonine Wall, there’s bags of history to the place, and the little museum near the house is worth a gander as well.
