Day 1 the train journey

The train journey home, could we do it in a day, certainly possible, good chance to leave Den Haag at 7.15 and be home at 21.15 according the the lady at the ticket office. Great, the journey started ok, but a train was already cancelled from Venlo to Mönchengladbach, so still a good chance. The 11.07 was good, and got us there, and the connecting train to Koblenz was ok too. However, the next train from Koblenz to Kaiserslautern didn’t get that fat, it broke down 3 stations before. At Kaiserslautern, the next train was cancelled, then the next one only went half the way to Neustadt. At Neustadt, the onward train to Karlsruhe was cancelled, next one was 90 mins later. It was already 21.00, so I booked the hotel. The information office was survived would get there. We got on the train, should have been 40 mins. After 20 mins, the driver announced that the train would go no further and no other trains, they suddenly were doing engineering work on the line. We were promised a replacement bus.After one hour waiting, and the disappearance of all DB personnel it was 23.15 and no bus came. I rang the Park Hotel in Landau, and booked a room, in 10 mins we were in the room, shower, and sleep. Still about 5 hours train rides to go.
