If you can't beat them...

Plume Thistle (Cirsium rivulare 'Atropurpureum' )

One of our usual garden centre visits with Kanyl.  The truth is they are a good source of blips not to mention coffee and cake.

Wandering round taking shots of the flowers I came across one I hadn't seen/noticed before.  At first I thought it was a Melancholy Thistle (Cirsium heterophyllum) but I was wrong.  It is however a close relative but not native like the MT.  The worker Buff-tailed Bumblebee (Bombus terrestris) was a bonus.  It is an attractive flower good for pollinators.  The RHS say "if self-seeding is a problem cut back hard after flowering" and suggest it is good for wildlife gardens.
