Finishing

It was Day 4 of Croeso24 today and we had a long drive south westish to the carpark at a pony trotting venue, a first in orienteering carparks for us!  From there we were bussed up the mountain road, low cloud descending around us, to the arena on a carpark high on Pen Rhiw Wen.  Although it was mizzly up there, it was still quite warm.  Cagoules were compulsory but I fastened mine around me as I find them too uncomfortable to run in unless the weather is really dire.

The low visibility meant moving carefully on bearings and I took it slow, picking off features as I crossed the moor. which was pock-marked with pits and depressions.  Quite challenging locating a particular pit with a control in the bottom of it when your specs are nigh on impossible to see through and there is nothing to fix on!  I do wonder why we do this sport sometimes but it is really gratifying when it works and today I only made a couple of small errors.  I finished in 11th place again, which I was pleased with.

Tony finished shortly after me and this is a very bad blip of him coming down the run in behind Simon, taken on my phone.  My only photo taken today.

We called in at Brecon for petrol on the way back to the cottage and treated ourselves to cuppas and cake at the CoffeeBox Cafe...again!
