A spot of yellow
Another odd day today. Started off dull, then brightened up, so mid-morning I decided to get outside for some air. So much better outside when you have a cold. But in spite of the blue sky I could feel the rain beginning from somewhere, so back indoors to carry on with my Dunollie notes.
I went outside with my after-lunch cuppa - very pleasant if a trifle breezy. Then I spent a couple of hours down on the bank, gardening from the top of the ladder again and also lying down near the top and leaning forwards down the slope. Although I need to remove lots of ferns it's not easy, given the terrain, so I contented myself again with just taking off the fronds. At least that way I can see what it would be like with them gone! I may have to resort to a little careful weedkiller spray when they regrow.
Rather an achy job, so rounded it off with another cuppa out on the deck. I finished the 'Mudlarking' book. I love the way that the author has worked her way down the Thames, finishing up out in the estuary, then on the final page she follows the incoming tide back up the river as far as Teddington, the limit of the tidal Thames.
As I haven't left the property today I've had to find an EB, this time a gorgeous little flower that has popped up in a hanging basket. This is Calceolaria mexicana, an annual plant I've grown over many years. I didn't think I still had it, but it has a habit of turning up when you thought it was lost!
Quote of the Day: "There is a sun, a light that for want of another word I can only call yellow, pale sulphur yellow, pale golden citron. How lovely yellow is!" - Vincent Van Gogh.
