No-no

Day 3 of the Annandale Way with myself as company :-)

I caught the bus to St Ann's Bridge and walked 10.8 miles to the Dryfesdale Cemetery at Lockerbie (where there is a memorial garden for those who died as a result of the PanAm air disaster in 1988). From here I caught another bus back to Dumfries and treated myself to a swim and sauna (amazing how lovely it is to float in water and tale all the weight off your feet!)

The walk today took me through some beautiful countryside - mostly farmland, but also woods. I had a chat with a very old and wheezy farmer in a shiny tractor, and a man fly-fishing in the River Annan near Milehousebridge. I met no other walkers.

The photo shows "No-no's Seat". No-no (Norman) was a local resident who was advised to take a daily walk after some surgery, but needed a rest at the top to the hill, so he installed a seat. There is a notebook in the box where walkers can sign their names. The last people to pass this way were on the 10th and 22nd of July. Norman died in 2022.

Today is my 63rd birthday :-)
