Raggedy

On a day when I saw a hummingbird, a swallowtail butterfly, a heron and a kingfisher, I did not have my camera with me on any occasion. Later, when I did have it, I despaired at not having seen much of interest. Such is life I suppose.

Until that is when I walked, shoulder high, through the prairie down a narrow path, barely distinguishable.. I would not normally venture into its heart, fearing mosquito bites, but today it was cool enough they were a minor nuisance.

And here I watched a pair of monarchs do battle over territory. I fear the one photographed came off worst. The flowers this year are bountiful and it was uplifting to stand amidst them. Must be all the rain we've had.
