the washington monument came back to lit life this week. it was damaged in an earthquake last fall, and further damaged by hurricane irene shortly after. it's undergoing significant repairs, so no tours for a while.

it hasn't been lit since this happened, but now that the scaffolding is up, they've installed temporary lighting - very pretty.

we've been getting rain pretty much every day lately, especially in the evenings. we live not too far from the lincoln memorial, so it's a quick walk over. and i run there most days. familiar.
