There's a smoky haze
filling our valleys today.
We can hope for rain.

I was out on Mission Flats Road at 7 AM listening to our national radio, CBC, and waiting for the freight trains to sort themselves out. It seemed to take a long time for the crossing to clear.

I drove to the end of the road to get a panorama of the delta. I'd driven past the spot where I would find an eagle. Today, there were big truck belonging to the Canadian Pacific trains parked under the trees with motors running. No eagles in attendence.

I was happy to see osprey, on the nest and perched nearby. I'm really pushing my telephoto to capture these shots. I do think I see two osprey babies on the nest!

A short train sat idling on the tracks near the osprey nest. The engine and cars look dilapidated and rusty. It made a rattling noise as it idled.

I stopped for a view of my mountains across the river and found some wildflowers along the edge of the road. All the greenery is getting dried and bleached in the sun.

I was back home with my breakfast in hand by 8 AM. I can hope to be home for the day with my feet up once I make a quick trip to the bank.
