885 day of war
Hi friends!
First of all, I want to say that everything is fine now! Nastya had a stomach ache since last week, and we went to see a therapist who examined her and prescribed medication for her stomach. The doctor didn't give a diagnosis or take any tests, but we hoped it would pass soon and everything would be fine. However, the treatment didn't help, and yesterday she felt very bad. It was Friday evening, and it was difficult to find doctors, no phones were answering. So, I took Nastya, and we went to the hospital to seek help. At the first hospital, there were no people, and they sent us to another one,, but I didn't know they accepted people; they mainly treat soldiers after injuries (it's quite sad to see; in these days, I've seen hundreds of people without limbs, each with their own tragic story. I'm scared to talk much about it because I fear this hospital might become a target for rocket attacks, so I'll just say that these people are truly strong, even after serious injuries they remain optimistic and hopeful for the future).
In this hospital, they examined her, took many tests, did an ultrasound, an EKG, and overall I was relieved because the doctors were very caring and really tried to help. They didn't give her a definitive diagnosis, gave her an antispasmodic shot, and sent her home; I took her from the hospital around 10 PM.
This morning, we went to the hospital again because the medicine didn't help, and all night she was in a lot of pain. They diagnosed her with appendicitis and performed surgery a few hours later. When the doctor allowed, I immediately rushed to the hospital to visit her. She is still recovering from anesthesia and is very weak, but I think she will get better soon, and the appendicitis will never bother her again. This was her first surgery, and I understand how scared she was, but I'm glad they were able to help her. Today, she can't eat or drink, they are feeding her through an IV. Now I'm preparing for her special diet, looking for what foods she can and cannot eat. For example, the food needs to have enough protein, but legumes are not allowed. So, any soy protein is not suitable. The recovery diet is generally not vegetarian, it includes a lot of chicken and eggs, and we haven't eaten them for about 4 years, but if it's necessary - I believe it's okay to eat them and even needed. My view on vegetarianism is that animals shouldn't be eaten if there are other options. But if it's a matter of life and there are no alternatives, it should be done. The bottom line is that you should not kill animals for pleasure, but do it only in cases of national necessity. I do not pretend that my point of view is correct, but I am guided by these principles. The postoperative menu is quite difficult, but I think I will manage.
Right now, I'm trying to keep up with everything, doing household chores, working, visiting Nastya in the hospital, and cooking. It's physically challenging to do everything, but I found a big plus in this because I realized how hard it is to live alone, and I'm glad that there is Nastya who helps with all these tasks that arise in everyday life. I hope she recovers soon, and I will do my best to help her with that.
Lately, it has become calmer in the country in terms of missile attacks, and it seems they really affect the moral state. This is a very difficult time, but I still feel good and don't give up, trying to find more opportunities and get out of hopeless situations.
Summer is vacation time for everyone, and even the war can't change that, but it's also the season of low sales. Combined with power outages, it has a double effect, so this month we barely managed to pay the rent and utilities. I'm trying to worry less about this because it's the same almost every month, and I'm really tired of worrying. Always, even when it seems everything is going badly, something good happens, orders come in, or someone helps, and we survive. I've never been a religious person, but I've read that in stressful situations like war, people develop "magical thinking" more. People start believing in tarot readers, astrologers, and go to churches more. I even saw that our television stations invite tarologists who make schedules for when the next shelling will happen! To me, it's too much, but I understand why people are interested in this topic. Moreover, I noticed that I started meditating more, imagining that the world cares about me and that life won't give me more challenges than I can handle. And somehow, that's how it happens. No matter how hard it is, life always works out for the better. I try to keep the idea that everything works out as it should and everything in this world is temporary. This helps me not to get stuck and move forward in life, overcoming obstacles.
Thank you for your support, even though my social circle has shrunk to Nastya and my parents, I don't feel lonely. Blip helps me have some social activity, and I'm glad I found this site back in 2019. Also, thanks for your support on buymeacoffee, it saves us in difficult times!
You can send greetings to Nastya in the comments, tomorrow I will go to the hospital and show everything to her. Thank you!
