Kayaking at Meeboar

I finally got my kayak out this morning. I went out early to a small, plains reservoir near Laramie. It is a great place to look for water birds. It's really only about 6 feet deep but apparently has good fishing. My main is looking southwest from the parking lot out at Jelm Mountain. There is an observatory at the top. I loved the golden color of the grass in the early morning light. You can see the smoke haze at the horizon. We are getting smokey skies from fires in nearby states. The extra is part of the reservoir with the sun just coming up.
I need to get on the water by 6 I think. I didn't make it until 7 today and by 7:30 the wind had kicked up and made it hard to paddle with my very light kayak. There are some mountain lakes I want to try soon.
It was so pretty and peaceful. There was someone in a van who was sleeping there but otherwise I was the only one. Once I got out I just sat on the shore and watched the birds. It was great. And no mosquitos weirdly enough.
