Windswept
Windswept by name, windswept by nature…
Antarctic breezes were back today, buffeting all who braved the wind tunnels of the new residential towers on the edge of the arts precinct in central Canberra. The “Iron Giant” stands tall on the corner, somewhat resembling a Greek statue in a porticoe.
The title of the statue by April Pine is Windswept, the subject is Andrew Inglis Clark, of the Hare-Clark electoral system so popular in Australia. (Mobility scooter for scale, I did drag it in front oh him for a posed shot, but I liked this better).
I was running early for film club (Capra’s Lady for a Day) and sent a bit crazy with the camera, so using up a few of my final extras, including a paparazzi shot of a fellow film buff stopping to smell the roses in front of the ACT Legislative Assembly.
We got lucky at film club - my sister won the lucky door prize and we’ll be going to a special screening of Kinds of Kindness on Thursday.
