Something Wicked...
..This Way Comes...on occasion...when you sit on the dock - like a bat flies out from under the sun umbrella. or Madame Dolomedes the Dock Spider pays a visit...( see extra if you are OK with spiders).
The dock spider... wicked? Not really..but wickedly interesting...It is the largest spider in Canada - about the size of your palm. It hunts not with a web, but by stalking and tackling its prey - insects, tadpoles and smaller fish; it can walk on water, swim and stay underwater for up to 30 minutes! Yikes! Ok..not exactly wicked, but close to it!
Usually though, it is Something Not-As-Wicked that shows up, just asking to have its photograph taken - like this damselfly hitching a ride on a leaf that was floating by (main) ..and a female Mallard out for a morning cruise.. (extra)
If it were not for these blip-ops that happen to pass by, I would be stuck for blips! This is a small island - less than an acre, with limited landscape scenes to post. Same old scene with maybe a different sky? So, I am thankful for these little photo-ops that are often dropped into my lap...or happen to be sitting under my chair!
