Six-Spot Burnet Moth
.. on Black Knapweed, Centaurea nigra
So it was up to the buterfly reserve this morning in the brilliant sunshine. Such a beautiful day, if a bit breezy for some of the butterflies. I saw several more painted ladies, red admirals, meadow browns, gatekeepers, peacocks, skippers, fewer marbled whites and many brimstones, but the day really belonged to the six-spot burnet moths that were everywhere! Here is just one of them. I liked this shot because it shows the translucency of the wings. The red spots and underskirts could be paint, but the black 'fabric' is definitely gauzy.
Not a lot else has been accomplished except for a little domesticity and the buying of teabags, but that seems okay to me ;))
Enjoy your Sunday evening and have a great start to the week xx
PS: A reminder - WFW24_17 finished at midnight last night (Saturday 27th, so now wildflowers for the challenge should be tagged #WFW24_18
