Roll With It

Bit Of History

Not much to say about the day really, another three hours of the morning spent in a dentist chair with the accompanying expense.
Great River Race training in the evening, we set off from Ponsharden heading up river towards Loe Beach which gave me a better opportunity to see the lightship as we passed.

The Trinity House light vessel LV 19, (LV - Light Vessel), remains moored to the Crossroads buoy in Falmouth awaiting a tender to moor the vessel to its designated position near the Seven Stones reef off Land's End.
LV19, built by Philip and Son of Dartmouth was launched in 1958. On March 18, 1967, the crew of the light vessel witnessed the supertanker 'Torrey Canyon' heading for the Seven Stones Reef of Rocks. Despite the firing of rockets and signalling by ALDIs lamp she struck the rocks.
