Day 32 Vilalba to Baamonde
An idyllic day walking through farm land, farm yards and peaceful wooded paths, albeit in soaring temperatures. Eclipsed by news from home at 9k of the arrival of baby Leo, a wee brother for Liv and third grandchild for me.
Fittingly the storks appeared today, just after Alexander phoned. The farmland is different now, more yellow than green, obviously with plenty of invertebrates. I counted 11 in the fields and saw just one nest on a telegraph pole.
The temperature is beginning to drop now. Monday seems to be the day everyone has off in Baamonde, I’m hoping that one of the supermarkets will open shortly. From here it’s just over 100km to Santiago. On the one hand I really don’t want this to end, on the other I can’t wait to get home to see Leo. And have some vegetables.
22km, minimal ascent, 3 pilgrims and 11 storks.
