Spike

Elaine and l did our walk early morning as we knew it was going to be a hot day.
We took the shady route down to the river then came back the same way instead of doing the usual circular route.
The dead tree trunk on the opposite side of the stepping stones loses more branches every year and is no more than a SPIKE but shows no signs of falling down.
Thanks to JacZero for hosting Mono Monday.

A trip to take my green waste to the tip, post a Vinted parcel and buy some fresh fruit then my chores were done and we could go for a coffee.
I suggested we went to the ‘posh’retirement village at Ben Rhydding because l knew Elaine would like it.
We sat on the terrace and enjoyed one of the finest views of the Wharfe Valley that l know of. It’s a stunning place and we had a walk around the grounds , my how the other half live, felt like we were on a film set.
Both agreed even if we could afford it we wouldn’t want to live there .

Then l drove us into Ilkley, bought some items from the haberdashery dept on Boyes then we we had a stroll along The Grove, had just mentioned to Elaine that l wasn’t optimistic about getting any stylish winter shoes that would suit my plantar fasciitis when l saw the brand l know Podiatrist’s recommend.
So even though it was summer l asked when the winter footwear would arrive and lo and behold a small order has just come in from Germany.
I am now the proud owner of some bottle green wing tipped brogues and have put in an order for when the boots are delivered at the end of August, a big relief for me.
Called at Moss and Moor for a cup of tea and a scone as we realised we had not had any lunch and had not eaten for seven hours.
Sat in my garden now with a glass of water with fresh mint and a slice of lemon.
