Thanks to Danksound’s recommendation we went up 35 stories to the top of the Sky Garden which is a three-story glass dome landscaped with plants and incredible views of the city and it must be wonderful to see sunsets from there.  We could easily see the Thames below with views towards Westminster and the South Bank, Tower Bridge and the Tower of London and the tall buildings of Canary Wharf in the former docklands area.  Later we went to the Docklands Museum with M and wandered around many of the little lanes in the city seeing hidden places like roman remains, the second oldest coffee house in Britain various church remains, tiny gardens and many more.  After meeting up again with the others we had a very nice meal before L and his girlfriend had to leave to catch the train to the northwest .  There had been a race with 100s of runners going past the restaurant so the traffic was non existent which made it very pleasant to wander the City streets again taking in more of the sights before we crossed the Millenium bridge at dusk in the warm evening.  The collage show the “Walkie Talkie” Sky Garden building and views from the Millenium Bridge with the floodlit tribute to the firefighters trying to keep St Pauls safe during the blitz.
