I think it’s an artichoke flower
With a bee, who was on there for ages, but insisted on hiding. On my neighbour’s plot, but the plant is so huge it’s partially in mine too. I went to the allotment fairly early - ended up working from about 9 to 12 which was pretty warm by the end. Everything was looking really beautiful - I think I was the only person there. I was pleased to see a local cat lurking around - as there is a bit of a problem with rats. Though, since we now have video evidence of deer, badgers - and foxes of course - the rats may be unfairly blamed. In the afternoon I watch an exciting Olympics event, men racing on mountain bikes. I can’t imagine having the stamina they have. The electrician finally came and finished off. In the evening I went to see Twisters - a film about tornadoes in Oklahoma, the damage they do, and the people who chase them. Quite fun, and really dramatic of the weather in that area. We are lucky not to live there we concluded
