Yellow-wort

I took the spaniel into the forest this morning in an attempt to avoid the excessive heat. Another day with lots of butterflies, adding Holly Blue to yesterday's tally. I found Yellow-wort (Blackstonia perfoliata) growing along the edges of the forest track, the flowers an intense yellow against the glaucous leaves and stems.
