Wood White

I've been fascinated by the Wood White for many years. This may be because it was all but extinct in Sussex and I had to travel a long way to see it once or twice a year. Imagine my delight then to find a colony only 15 minutes drive from our new home in Shropshire. I counted more than twenty this morning, witnessed the fascinating courtship ritual and watched a bit of egg laying by this female. So pleased to be re-acquainted with this imperiled butterfly, my 26th species for the year. You can see a blip of one of my previous encounters here.
