Come from Away

This afternoon we have a matinee performance of ‘Come from Away’ at our local theatre. We’re lucky to have a theatre that hosts all the big touring productions, though both the sound system and the quality of seating makes us reluctant to to attend that often.

This is a show I’ve wanted to see for ages and it doesn’t disappoint. In case you’re not familiar with the story, it’s about how the Newfoundland town of gander coped with the 7000 passengers relocated there in the immediate aftermath of 9.11.

Fast paced and energetic, the small cast play both the ‘locals’ and the relocated passengers, and the small band of musicians is superb, really coming into their own when they take to the stage after the standing ovation for the cast. The only negative really is that the 1 hour 40 minute single act is just too long for me to sit in these uncomfortable seats.

Then it’s back to prepare a meal for the four of us plus neighbours Rob and Terry - though preparation is minimal as I’ve bought three Tesco Meal Deals! It’s fantastic to sit and eat outside yet again - these days of summer have been delightful and we’ve tried to make the most of them.

Needless to say, I’m feeling just so tired - and really very sore from all that sitting - so I leave our guests once the meal is over and head for bed leaving G to hosting duties!

My main today’s the musicians taking to the stage at the end of the performance. Thank you for all your lovely comments - I’ll catch up soon!
