Them….over there

….my daily cycle pootle often results in me crossing the River Tweed via the stone bridge at Mertoun or the chain suspension bridge at Dryburgh, into the county of Berwickshire. Berwickshire a.k.a. The Merse is where my great grandfather’s people hail from. They were labourers and moved from farm to farm as their seasonal contracts dictated. This resulted in my relatives being born all over the county in places like Whitsome, Swinton and Duns.

I was due to take Aunty K for an appointment today day but she cancelled again. Her back pain is awful. At least I got to see mum in the process of the plans unwinding. She gave me Owen’s birthday present as he’ll soon be 23!
