Crashing with a hornet

gets you a fat lip.

Yesterday I opened the greenhouse door and a bee stung me on my neck. Today I was going over 30km / h and had a run in with a hornet straight into my lower lip. And boy did it hurt.

We were about 10km from the house. I took a painkiller (yes, it hurt that bad) and we continued the ride. It hurt like hell and I could not talk properly as my mouth was so swollen inside. Even my gums were hurting next to the sting area.

So two hits in two days. I have to be really careful now for the rest of the summer as I am allergic to bees and hornets. It helps that we have a long winter, because one does not get stung during the winter, so it gives the body time to recover. Also I do take antihistamines every morning and evening for the pollen.

The swelling has gone down, but the area still hurts a bit. I find my tongue or hand touching the areal all the time.
