Ribblehead Viaduct
A clear sky overnight, and it was cold! We discovered that our supposed '3-season' sleeping bag really isn't up to the job, and neither of us could sleep until we'd put on some more clothing!
Another group walk was planned, 9-miles to the top of Great Shunner Fell and back, but again it was a late start. MrM and I opted out, as I almost certainly couldn't walk that far in the time available. And MrM and I have both climbed the hill in the past. Instead we drove around the Dales for a while and took in the views. It was a glorious day with a blue sky and fluffy white clouds.
We called into a supermarket and bought provisions for a lunch. A little later, taking a wrong turn lead us to the ideal lunch spot (first extra). Then on to Swaledale, where haymaking is underway (2nd extra).
Another music session was planned in the pub for this evening, so we went back so MrM could play fiddle for a couple of hours. But it was not to be. The walk took longer than anticipated, and the walkers were tired and hungry when they eventually returned, so we decided to leave for home rather than wait for the music to start. The light was beginning to fade as we passed Ribblehead Viaduct on the way..
