Boisterous gorilla
There is a funny story behind this photo... A real highlight of our two weeks in Rwanda was visiting the mountain gorillas. After a hike up the hillside through the potato fields we reached the wall of the Volcanoes National Park and then headed in on narrow paths with big stinging nettles encroaching as we went further. After meeting the trackers, they hacked a path for us through the jungle to where our gorilla family were. Whilst our group was stood watching a couple of gorillas, we heard a noise from behind and the next thing I knew, I had nearly been knocked flying by a gorilla who had decided that I was in his way and that he would just continue running on his chosen path. This is the gorilla that tackled me. He is a known trouble maker in this family. After causing slight alarm and havoc, he sat calmly eating blackberry leaves - a good subject for a portrait!
