Crocodile Rock
I’ve had the best day. We arrived here yesterday and today we waved Tony off northwards to Faskally Parkrun and from there to Lagganlia for the week. I’m spending a long weekend with Jen and Pete, and today Jen and I set off early to drive to Largs on the west coast. We caught the ferry across to Great Cambrae Island and walked the coast road for five miles to the main town of Millport, a pretty place and a seaside town in microcosm. We had second breakfasts at a friendly cafe, The Dancing Midgie and then continued along the coast to reach a viewpoint where we could see across to the dramatic mountains of the Isle of Arran, a special place for both of us.
After mooching amongst the rocks for a while, we turned back to Millport and bought some treats from the chocolate shop, then it was on the bus to the ferry where we were entertained by the Calmac guy checking tickets, who was very funny.
Across the water and back in Largs, Jen suggested ice cream so, after a pause at the viewpoint above Largs, we drove to the Lime Tree Larder and enjoyed four different flavours between us of very delicious gelato, sitting in the farmyard in the sun.
