Athletics at the Olympics
Not actually, but the way this crop had been cut reminded me of an athletics track!
I planned to walk today. One day in the house is more than enough for me. I was ready to set off this morning when it started to rain, so I stayed at home.
The rain came to nothing, so I walked after lunch.
I started at Wall Village and made myself climb up the steep hill to the Iron Age fort on top. Puff, puff.
It was easy from then on. I went across the fields and through the wood to Fallowfield, then on to the Military Road at Heavenfield and down Hadrian’s Wall Trail to Wall. I was sure it would be 4 miles but it was only 3.25!
I called to see Jenny and Dennis after that. They had a hospice carer who made me a very good cup of tea. The carer is married to a local vet. He is the one who was very sensible when Carla was old and put her on steroids to give her a few happy months (instead of surgery offered/insisted on by another vet)!
Home to pack up the knitting to send on its way tomorrow. I see that they would really like 100% wool for soldiers hats. That is not so easy to source these days. I will be going to my favourite wool shop in Sunderland on Thursday so I will talk to them about what can be sourced. Acrylic rules, where yarn is concerned these days.
