The Three B’s

…………………………..boats and bridges!

Celebrations continued in Berwick today for the 400th anniversary of the old bridge so I headed over there mid morning to see and capture some of the goings on. It was also lifeboat day so I headed back over the river at lunchtime to meet MC and the wee one. The wee one wasn’t in the best of fettles and MC eventually set off with him to the park before pinching the car and heading home.

A couple of friends caught up with me as I was taking photos of the incoming Eyemouth lifeboat. After tea and cake it was beginning to rain but we’d stopped to see the vintage vehicles and took a walk around the stalls before we were going to head home! We noticed a second lifeboat had snuck in without us seeing and as we went to investigate it was apparent they were about to put on a display…an hour and a half and several hundred shots later we left after being royally entertained by the lifeboat crews, the rescue dogs and finally seeing the Sea Shannon being brought into dock by the pilot. It was a very busy afternoon on the river!

A few extras:
A beautiful 1938 Alvis Saloon whose engine compartment was a whole lot cleaner than my car! The car mascot (an eagle?) was pristine.
Newfoundland rescue dog display, I think this one was just a puppy.
The wee man enjoying driving the bus but only for the first few rotations…he got off at an unscheduled stop!
Ruth Lee had been up to her old tricks again!
Four lifeboats…Eyemouth, Seahouses and the two smaller ones from Berwick posing between the chimney and lighthouse.
The Sea Shannon manoeuvring the river estuary along with the pilot boat.
