Home Sense

Lucca and I popped to Nero for our breakfast as S was off on his paddleboard travels.

When he was back in the evening we had a wee trip down the road to HomeSense.

There was a hilarious conversation going on upstairs here with this lady and the assistant and the customer’s mother on FaceTime . It was so loud I couldn’t help but hear everything. The customer loved the sideboard but wanted her Mother to give her approval too. In my opinion the sideboard is hideous but we all have different tastes. The lady was telling the assistant that she loves Stags and has a stag picture that would sit above the sideboard which would match the outline of the stag on the sideboard. There was a conversation about delivery and the extra involved when customers live in flats. 20 quid over and above the price for each flight of stairs it’s carried up. She lived on the first floor .

Then she spied this beanbag chair and dragged it to the sideboard to see if it matched. The husband then had enough and had an outburst and stormed off. Swearing was involved! A young girl passed by and the lady grabbed her and asked her if this chair matched the sideboard. The girl was taken by surprised as she had her earphones on so just said yes and walked on. That was confirmation enough for the customer and it was a done deal.

I love all these interactions in shops. Some may call it nosiness but I say it’s a curiosity and observations on the quirkiness of other people’s shopping habits and how what some would call hideous others call it treasure!

Pa I bought a small smelly candle, a small hairbrush and an outdoor big cushion that was in their sale.
